How to Use Photo Corners in a Scrapbook
Learn a simple way to position photo corners, test a loose arrangement and check page turns. Follow the instructions for the corners you actually use.
Photo corners hold the edges of a print so you can mount it without putting adhesive directly across the photograph. Their construction varies: some have self-adhesive backs, while other types require a different mounting method. Read the instructions for your particular corners before starting.
This is a general positioning method. It does not establish the material composition, long-term preservation properties or removability of every type of corner, including those supplied with Podari.
Begin with the loose print
Put the actual photograph on the actual page. Leave space near the binding and enough room for a caption. If you are using patterned paper behind it, plan that layer first so the corners will attach to the surface you intend.
Try the facing page too. A good position on a single sheet can feel cramped once the album is open. Photograph the loose arrangement if you want a reference.
Check the corner fit before exposing adhesive
Gently place a corner over an edge of the print. It should hold the edge without bending the photograph. Repeat with the other corners and check the orientation.
Do not force a thick or unusually shaped print into a corner that is too small. Use a different mounting method or a copy suited to the materials. Keep irreplaceable photographs separate while you test.
Attach according to the supplied instructions
For corners with peel-off adhesive backs, a common approach is to position them on the print, expose the backing and place the assembly on the page. The details depend on the product, so follow its directions rather than assuming all corners work the same way.
Avoid pulling firmly on an attached corner to correct the layout; it may damage the page or photograph. Test a spare piece first if you need to understand how your materials behave.
Check the result before continuing
Turn the page gently and close the album without pressure. Look for any edge that catches, lifts or bends. Allow adhesive to set according to the manufacturer’s directions before handling the page further.
Photo corners do not make an entire album archival by themselves. Papers, prints, adhesives and storage conditions all matter. For irreplaceable items, use copies for crafting and seek preservation advice appropriate to the originals.
Keep the first arrangement simple
One photograph and a short note give you space to learn how your materials behave. See your first scrapbook page for a loose-layout method. Photo corners are among the materials listed in the Podari gift kit; your photographs are printed separately.
